Introduction
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Velocide Overdrive.
This press kit contains everything you need to cover the game: screenshots, logos, descriptions, and game details. You can also download the complete kit as a .zip file.
No text can truly capture the atmosphere of Velocide Overdrive. The chaos, the laughter, the "just one more round!" moments — they have to be experienced firsthand. Try the press demo — it takes just a few minutes to understand the game and scratch the surface of its true potential in a group setting.
Velocide Overdrive is deceptively simple: you control a small character that cannot stop leaving a colored trail. But within minutes, the game turns into a highly addictive battlefield. The combination of 70+ power-ups creates truly unique situations — moments that might have a 1 in 100,000 chance of happening, and you know they will probably never play out exactly the same way again.
I designed it for people who don't have hours to invest: you can play for a few minutes, have an incredible time, and boot the game up again the next day or week. That is the very essence of this game.
I am an indie developer, and I know that without the press and content creators, no game can reach its audience. Your coverage is essential for indie games like mine. Therefore, I sincerely thank you for your interest and your contribution to the success of the Velocide Overdrive project.

Full Description
Ruining friendships at top speed!
Velocide Overdrive is a brutal, fast-paced local multiplayer arena game for 1 to 6 players. Players control continuously moving lines and must avoid walls, their own trail, and the trails of other players. Every time a player is eliminated, the survivors earn points. The last one standing gets the maximum. The first player to reach the target score wins the match.
But the real chaos lies in the combination of over 70 power-ups that randomly spawn in the arena — from "homing rockets" to "divine laser" beams, the time-defying "ChronoBreak," or the terrifying "Revolution" power-up that can end a round instantly.
We turn your chill evening into a literal warzone. Easy to pick up, impossible to put down: it's the ultimate "just one more round!" experience.
How It Works
- Scales to any group size — play solo, duo, or up to 6 players. Mix human players (keyboard + gamepads) and AI opponents, or invite friends online via Steam Remote Play Together (up to 4). The game adapts perfectly, whether it's a 1v1 duel or a 6-player total chaos.
- Snake-like survival — you can't stop, you can't brake. Each player leaves a permanent trail behind them. Touching a trail, wall, or obstacle instantly eliminates you for the round. The space shrinks as the trails fill the arena.
- Round-based scoring — the game is played in fast rounds (15 seconds to 2 minutes). When a player is eliminated, all survivors earn points. Players are ranked by elimination order: the last one standing earns the most points, the first eliminated gets none. The first player to reach the target score wins the match.
- Over 70 power-ups with devastating combos — power-ups spawn randomly in the arena and anyone can grab them. Each grants a unique temporary ability: fire homing rockets, become invincible, freeze opponents, rewind time, and much more. Power-ups can combine with each other to create devastating chain reactions and unique moments.
- 3 types of special rounds — special rounds are designed to turn the tables and keep every match unpredictable. Double Points (x2) round drastically raises the stakes. Negative Points round penalizes losers instead of rewarding winners, punishing risky plays. Team round forces temporary alliances. Even with a comfortable lead, losing a special round can completely reopen the game — no one is ever truly safe.

Unlock System
Skins and arenas are unlocked through gameplay progression:
- Achievement-gated — most skins unlock by earning achievements. The more achievements you complete, the more cosmetics become available. Each skin has a specific achievement threshold (e.g., 10 achievements for one skin, 30 for another, up to 50+ for the rarest).
- Premium skins — a small selection of exclusive skins available in the Supporter Pack edition, rewarding players who wish to support the continuous development of the game. Includes the Pirate Ship head skin and the Sea arena background with animated waves and underwater bubbles.
- Default skins — several skins and all base colors are available right from the start, so every player can customize immediately.
There are no microtransactions and no loot boxes. All unlockable skins are earned through gameplay, with the exception of the "Supporter Pack" skins.
Achievements
65 Achievements for Completionists
Velocide Overdrive offers 65 achievements designed to challenge players on all aspects of the game:
- Skill-based — pull off specific feats like eliminating an opponent with a sniper while your vision is impaired, or winning a round by finishing with the "Revolution" power-up.
- Milestone achievements — survive for a cumulative hour, win 1 round, win 1 match, and other long-term goals.
- Creative or situational achievements — discover unique power-up interactions and pull off rare combos that require creativity and timing.
Achievements require a minimum of 5 players (human or AI) with all power-ups enabled to unlock, ensuring they represent genuine accomplishments. Each unlock triggers an in-game notification, and reaching achievement milestones automatically unlocks new head skins.
In-Game Statistics
Velocide Overdrive tracks a comprehensive set of statistics across all your games. Every number tells a story — from your favorite power-up to the deadliest weapon in your arsenal.
Global Leaderboard — Velocide League Points
Global Ranking System
Velocide Overdrive features a global ranking system based on Velocide League Points (VLP). The VLP score is not just a simple win counter — it's a comprehensive formula that evaluates multiple statistical and behavioral dimensions of a player's performance.
The system combines two types of metrics:
- Long-term experience stats — the more you play, the more VLP you accumulate through experience. The total number of rounds played, matches completed, and time invested all contribute to a confidence curve that rewards consistency.
- Performance stats — how well are you actually playing? The formula analyzes round win rate, kill-per-round ratio, match victories, best win streak, and average survival time per round to measure raw performance.
It's the combination of these two categories that determines a player's VLP and their position on the World and Friends leaderboards. A new player who wins a lot will climb quickly, but a veteran with consistent performance over thousands of rounds will hold the top spots. The system rewards both improvement and long-term commitment.
AI & Neural Network
Training an AI that Plays Like a Human
The AI opponents in Velocide Overdrive are powered by a neural network trained through hundreds of hours of machine learning. The goal was never to create an unbeatable AI, but an AI that behaves like a human.
The training process involved:
- 52 input parameters per decision — including spacing, enclosure detection, distance to power-ups, distance to opponents, wall proximity, trail density analysis, and much more.
- Specific scenario training — 1v1 duels, 2v2 battles, total chaos in free-for-all, and edge cases were all trained separately with tailored reward distributions to produce versatile behavior.
- Multi-stage training pipeline — the AI first trained against a basic algorithmic version, then against itself in progressive difficulty tiers, and finally against real human players to refine its behavior.
The main challenge was striking the right balance: the AI must avoid trapping itself in its own trail (a very human behavior to learn) without becoming superhuman or unbeatable. It should never make perfect decisions every time — it needs to leave room for players to express themselves, while still providing a genuine challenge. The result is an AI that plays like a good friend: competitive, sometimes surprising, but never too unfair.
About the Developer
NoxRift Games
I am an independent developer based in Paris, France. I am passionate about arcade games and nostalgic for the classics that shaped me — I am a huge fan of games like the Sonic saga and arcade games in general, and I hope to let that same passion shine through Velocide Overdrive.
I am an IT engineer with over 10 years of experience developing with Unity, Unreal Engine, and JavaScript. Velocide Overdrive represents over 2 years of work and is the culmination of my personal investment as a developer.
Originally, Velocide Overdrive was just a small personal project — a game I made for myself and my friends. Through constant laughter, challenges, and unforgettable moments (some achievements are the direct result of them), I decided it deserved to be shared with a wider audience.
That is why I am launching Velocide Overdrive — so that other players can experience those same moments of fun and chaos with their friends or family, the same moments that accompanied me during long game nights.
About AI in Development
I use AI primarily as a workflow accelerator: as a coding assistant, to develop unit tests, write utility scripts, and for some translations. To me, ignoring the benefits AI can bring to game development would be a mistake. It has saved me a considerable amount of time in the development process.
As a solo indie developer, going without AI would have meant spending significantly more time for similar results on certain tasks. It allowed me to focus my energy where it matters most: game design, balancing, playtesting, and crafting the best possible player experience.
